How the Hall is run
Cross Hands Public Hall and Cinema is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. Those volunteers ensure that the Public Hall is run smoothly and those that use it have the best experience possible. The volunteers are just that, volunteers who are not paid, but are merely doing the job for free to give something back to the communities surrounding Cross Hands. In today's hectic world, people are hesitant to regularly volunteer as they don't even consider the possibility that volunteering is an essential community activity. It's therefore reaffirms that volunteers, no matter where they volunteer, are precious to any society as the vast majority would not wish to give time "free" for the community. Without the Halls volunteers, for example, the Hall would close overnight and many many parents and children in the Gwendraeth Valley would lose out.
The running of the Hall is managed by a group of Trustees. Those Trustees meet 4 times a year (or as and when required) to decide on key aspects of the Hall's business. Currently the Hall and Management Committee are desperately short of both Trustees and Volunteers and would dearly love to hear from anybody who would like to either volunteer a few hours a week (free film/live event thrown in), or would like to spend a few hours every quarter as a Trustee to the Hall.
The Hall is also looking at becoming a member of CAVS - Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services and participating more in the activities of the volunteer sector within Carmarthenshire.
